How long does the band play?
A typical event lasts four hours. However, Standing Room Only can
and will accommodate you, whatever your needs are. Daytime events,
in particular, seem to work better at the three-hour range. Also,
for events that end early in the evening (10:00 pm or earlier),
it's not uncommon for SRO to be asked to play extra because nobody
is ready to go home. (Please contact
SRO for overtime rates).
Will the Band be too loud for
my event?
Believe it or not, SRO is concerned about volume as well as all
other aspects of the performance. The band’s state-of-the-art
Bose® amplification
system was specifically
designed to provide a perfect level of sound, for any size room.
When you listen or dance to SRO, you’ll hear and feel every
vocalist and instrument perfectly, while still being able to
carry on a conversation at your table. No other band in the area
is using this revolutionary
live sound system. Whether your dancing the night away or simply
listening to SRO, the
sound will be perfect!
What will it cost to have SRO
play at my event?
Cost depends on many factors. Please call us at 423-314-6216 for
an exact price quote based on your entertainment needs.

Will I have to sign an agreement
and pay a deposit?
Yes to both questions. Because many events are booked in advance,
trying to secure a substitute booking for SRO on short notice is
rarely possible. Therefore, a non-refundable deposit is required
to book SRO for your event. A signed agreement benefits both parties;
giving you the assurance that SRO will fulfill all your special
needs. Click to download/view a contract.

What about breaks?
Like all bands, SRO takes breaks. Typically, three, 15-minute breaks
in a four-hour event. However, SRO will work its breaks around your
schedule. That is, if you need a longer / shorter period of time
for your event (i.e. an award presentation, etc), SRO will be happy
to accommodate. Also, SRO will provide, if needed, background music,
via CD's, during its breaks or prior to the event.
I have a special song I would
like played at my event.
SRO will be more than happy to learn a special song for your event.
My sister sings...
This is a little tricky. If you would like to have someone "sing
a song" with the band, we are happy to do so as long as advance
notice is given (at least a couple of days ahead of time) and it
is limited to one song. However, due to the high level of preparation
that is done for each event, we are unable to accommodate "last
minute" requests. That is, we cannot have somebody coming up
the day of the event and "sitting in.”
The CEO plays drums...
Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, nobody (not even the CEO)
is allowed to play the instruments.
How much space does the band
need?
The typical setup is 14 ft deep and 20 ft across the front for a
six-piece band. Of course, if your space is limited, SRO can do
some things to decrease the band footprint. If this is the case
for your event, please let us know and we'll work with you.
I need music for my ceremony,
cocktail hour, etc.
SRO will certainly help you with all your entertainment needs. For
the ceremony, SRO can provide a vocalist and classically trained
pianist. For the cocktail hour, SRO’s versatility allows everything
from a jazz pianist to a three-piece combo, playing standards and
swing.
What if one of the band members
is sick, hurt or unable to perform?
This is extremely rare, but it can happen. Thanks to decades of
experience and networking in the music business, SRO has qualified
back-ups for each position, ensuring that your event goes on as
planned without a hitch.
What about the Band’s
attire?
SRO performs in attire suitable to each event. Everything from tuxes
and formal wear for weddings, corporate events, etc., to casual
wear for outdoors parties and shows. Regardless, SRO will always
look as great as it sounds.
Can you do special announcements
such as entrances, etc.?
We offer complete emcee services free of charge. In addition to
handling your special announcements, we keep to your event's agenda,
actively guiding and engaging your guests the entire time we are
onstage. For bridal parties, we work with you to ensure proper name
pronunciation. In all cases, we discuss your needs ahead of time
to ensure that we understand your requirements.
Can I use your public address
system for announcements, presentations and toasts?
We always have a microphone available for you and your guests. Please
let us know in advance if you wish to use a microphone far from
the bandstand.
What types of music do you
play?
SRO has a very diverse repertoire, with styles that include Motown,
R&B, Pop, 70s-80s rock, country, jazz standards, swing, ethnic
dances and much more. Our skilled, experienced musicians perform
all material with authenticity and precision. Click for our playlist. |
